About Erica J. Lay

Dr. Erica Lay is a board certified medical geneticist and pediatrician. She attended the University of Texas at Austin for her undergraduate education where she majored in Biology. She completed medical school and a combined pediatrics-medical genetics residency at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston, TX. She stayed at BCM to complete a one year clinical research fellowship where she saw adult and pediatric patients while researching and publishing papers on dilated cardiomyopathy and TANGO2-related disorder. I provide compassionate care with thorough evaluation, focusing on the concerns of the patient and family while ensuring no other genetic risk factors are missed. I also put emphasis on shared decision making with the patient/family, and I make sure they understand genetic or complex medical concepts through education, and support. I help patients and their families optimize their health and development while considering emotional, social, and cultural factors.
