Jessica L. Newgard, CNM

Jessica Newgard, MN, CNM, IBCLC (she/they) is a nurse-midwife and lactation consultant. She grew up in Portland and attended Oregon State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. At OSU, she was inspired to become a midwife by Dr. Melissa Cheyney, who described the role of midwives in empowering people to trust themselves and grow themselves and their families through joyful, calm, trauma-informed care. Jessica initially practiced midwifery in McMinnville and has been at Providence since 2019. In 2023, they joined the Providence Mother Baby Clinic and became a lactation consultant the following year. Jessica enjoys working with families to problem-solve feeding challenges together and loves to support people and their families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. She is also passionate about gynecologic care and helping people to understand and love their bodies. They trust people to drive their care and believe each person is an expert on their experience and body. They are active in the local midwifery community through volunteering with the Oregon ACNM foundation and precepting midwifery students. Outside of work, Jessica loves traveling with her wife across Oregon and the world. She loves animals and nature and spends as much time as she can training her dog and riding horses.
