About Ho-Yann Jong
As a young boy witnessing his grandfather develop Alzheimer's disease, Ho-Yann Jong, M.D., was moved by this experience and decided to enter the field of medicine. "It was difficult to see the memories and soul leave his body," said Dr. Jong. "I was inspired to join in the fight against Alzheimer's and dementia. I know how tough it can be to care for a dementia patient, and I want to be there with my patients and their families every step of the way."
Dr. Jong believes his most important role as a provider is to guide patients and families to a diagnosis and help them see different aspects of management plans that best suit their needs. "I love seeing the smiles when patients and their family learn about new resources that can help them tackle specific issues," says Dr. Jong.
After earning his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, Dr. Jong completed his internship and residency at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. He also completed fellowship training at the VA Portland Medical Center and Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Jong is board-certified in Neurology, with special training in Geriatric Neurology. Dr. Jong was born and raised in Taiwan and moved to the United States for college and medical school. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

My person with dementia has a background of angry parents in childhood that can be triggering when folks voices are loud or emphatic. The 3 words test words that was issued by Dr Jong was said emphatically and very loudly which was slightly unnerving for my care receiver... That In Itself can cause one triggered not to be able to remember the words due to emotional flooding. It was most probably done that way so no possible elderly hearing deficit would interfere with an accurate memory assessment. But my client has no hearing loss. Perhaps a slightly louder, yet gentler speaking of the words would be better, leaving adequate space between each. I do not believe in my person's case it ultimately changed her result, but in the general population it could.I am hoping this input is helpful in general for others.

I would rather interact with an AI robot than Dr Jong about cognitive issues. He is personality less.

I like this doctor, Dr. Jong at St. V's; it's just tough to get an appointment. He's a busy guy, but it's worth the wait.
