About Faidah O. Badru

Dr. Badru is a fellowship-trained Pediatric Trauma and general surgeon who practices the full breath of pediatric surgery with a special interest in neonatal surgery, chest wall reconstruction and surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Badru attended medical school at St George’s University, Grenada where she was inducted into the medical school honor society. She also completed a Master’s in Public Health with a focus on epidemiology. She then completed a surgical internship at Harlem Hospital, New York and a general surgery Residency at St Louis University, MO. She underwent a 2-year pediatric surgery research fellowship at Cardinal Glennon Children’s hospital where she completed numerous peer reviewed publications and national presentations. Dr Badru proceeded to a formal pediatric surgery fellowship at University of Florida, Gainesville where she learnt how to provide the most up to date surgical care to children. At the completion of her fellowship, Dr Badru joined the staff at Charleston Area Medical Center, WV where she provided excellent care to children right where they live. This is in keeping with her philosophy of ensuring high quality care is accessible to all child regardless of where they reside. In her spare time, she loves to travel and spend time with her husband and kids. She also participates in global health endeavors, volunteering her time and skill to children in less resource abundant locations. She now brings her unique experiences and insights to the Pediatric Surgical team at Covenant Children’s Hospital.
