David J. A. Joosten, MD

Dr. Joosten knew he was going to be a pediatrician when he was in 4th grade! His mother was a nurse from Switzerland and his father an electrician from the Netherlands. They instilled in him a desire to pursue excellence. Graduating from medical school in New York, he met the love of his life, Lauris (who is an elementary school teacher), and they proceeded to raise 6 children that arrived in the short space of only 6 years! They started with twin girls and then a young son who followed close behind. They then rapidly adopted 3 more children from Africa, Central America, & then finally, a little blind girl from China. Their family became a true United Nations! They took their children on multiple medical trips to the ghettos of Nicaragua to teach them about compassion and care in underserved areas.

Dr Joosten's breadth of experience nationally and internationally is reflected in his diverse medical and cultural interests. His patients and even his own children have taught him more than any textbook ever could! He specializes in psychiatry, asthma, allergy, skin conditions, infectious disease, foster care follow up, and has a special love for junior high and high school athletics.

Dr. Joosten provides primary care for young people from birth to young adulthood up to age 22 years old.

His wife and he chose their own family motto that reflected not only their family values but Dr. Joosten's approach to caring for your children. Two words taken from that motto are: "trust" and "sacrificial love". He hopes you will immediately sense these qualities in his approach to care for your children the moment you set foot in the clinic! His desire is to develop a life-long relationship with your family!
