About Shirley W. Pang

Dr. Shirley Pang was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where her roots—and her loyalty to the 49ers—remain strong. She attended Stanford University before earning her medical degree from UCLA. She completed her internship and residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, followed by a rheumatology fellowship at UCSF. For more than 20 years, Dr. Pang has practiced rheumatology with Providence St. Jude Heritage Medical Group, caring for patients with rheumatic and autoimmune diseases and remaining committed to providing high-quality specialty care in the community.
Alongside her clinical practice, Dr. Pang has spent nearly two decades developing a comprehensive rheumatology clinical research program offering Phase 1 through Phase 4 studies across a broad range of autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and lupus nephritis, Sjögren’s disease, systemic sclerosis, inflammatory myositis, vasculitis, psoriatic arthritis, and other immune-mediated conditions. Her research has increasingly included emerging approaches such as first-in-human studies, bispecific antibodies, and cellular therapies, including CAR T-cell therapy. She believes patients in the community should have access not only to excellent clinical care, but also to the advances taking place in medicine. By bringing clinical research closer to home, her goal is to give patients more options while helping move the treatment of autoimmune disease forward.
