Each day there are approximately 107,000 people on the national transplant waiting list, hoping that today might be the day that they receive the gift of life. Every nine minutes another person is added to the waiting list.
This recognition page is dedicated to all the heroes who turned loss into hope and transformed lives through organ donation.
On behalf of every person whose live has been saved through organ donation, and their grateful family members, Providence thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.
A Thank You from Our CEO - The Gift of Life
Welcome to Providence St. Joseph Hospital’s Organ Donor site, where we recognize the generosity of those who gave the ultimate gift and saved the lives of others through organ and tissue donation. On any given day, more than 23,000 people in California wait for a lifesaving organ. Through organ and tissue donation, one person can save up to eight lives with organ donation and help more than 75 people through tissue donation. We created our Organ Donor Site to celebrate the lives of our organ and tissue donors. Please join me as we thank and honor our donors for their selfless decision to save and improve the quality of life for others.

A Prayer for Organ Donors
Provident God -
We pray that you will bless the lives of those who are organ donors – without them, there is no hope and there is no transplant.
May they be blessed for their compassion to restore life for those who are critically ill. As Pope Francis shared “Organ donation is a testimony of love for our neighbor”. Their generous gift is beautiful illustration of Matthew 22:39 to love thy neighbor as thyself.
May they be honored in death for caring enough about others to give a final gift to the world - enabling life to spring from death and sorrow to turn to hope as one family’s grief and loss becomes another family’s greatest gift.
We pray for those who await the gift of life that they may receive the organ necessary to renew their health and may they live with gratitude and joy.
We pray You will move the hearts of families facing the death of a loved one. In the shadow of their grief, may they find the courage and strength to give the gift of life to others.
