Addressing Digital Health Literacy Issues Within Vulnerable Populations

Sherene Schlegel, Executive Director of Telehealth Clinical Operations spoke at a mHealth Intelligence panel on digital health literacy, in particular, among underserved populations.

While RPM’s value as a tool to improve patient outcomes and expand access to care is clear, digital health literacy can be a significant barrier. RPM requires patients to have access to various technologies, from connected scales to smart thermometers, as well as the knowledge of how to use them. This panel will discuss how providers can identify digital health literacy challenges among the populations they serve, target initiatives to alleviate these hurdles, and ensure equitable access to the benefits of RPM.
