Financial Assistance at Providence
In keeping with our mission and core values, Providence cares for people and their health needs regardless of their ability to pay. We are committed to working with our patients through any financial issues, including finding ways to make medical care more affordable — even if that means lowering our bills to accommodate special needs and circumstances. We know that people sometimes get sick very suddenly and that medical bills can be hard to pay. If you are having trouble paying for all or some of your health care, we encourage you to talk with a Providence Financial Counselor or someone in our business office about how we can help you.
What Is Covered?
We can help eligible patients in paying for only medical services received at a Providence facility.
Government and Community Programs
If you are without health insurance, you may be eligible for other programs. We can help you discover whether these government and community programs (Medicaid and Veteran Affairs benefits) can help cover your medical bills. We also can help you apply for these programs.
Discounts for Uninsured Patients
Providence offers a discount for patients who may not have health insurance coverage. Please contact us about our discount program.
In addition to our financial assistance and discount programs, Providence has two low-cost clinics in Los Angeles that offer quality care for uninsured and under-insured patients. For more information, please visit our clinics below:
- San Pedro Butte Primary Care in San Pedro, CA
- Vasek Polak Health Clinic in Hawthorne, CA
Financial Assistance Program
Providence helps patients who may not have the financial ability to pay all their medical bills. Any of our patients can apply to get help. To qualify you will need to answer questions about your financial situation. We also can help you apply for other insurance coverage. You also will need to give us certain items, such as income statements, tax return forms and a record of your monthly bills.
Providence will work with all its patients needing help in paying medical bills. How much help patients receive will depend on their individual financial situation. To receive assistance, patients need to fill out a form provided by calling our financial assistance team; this form can be mailed to you or picked up at your local Providence facility.
Payment Plans
After your insurance company processes the bill (also knows as a claim), the balance (amount owed by you) is due within thirty days. The balance can be paid in any of the following ways: automatic credit card, payment plan, cash, check, online billpay or credit card. If you need a payment plan, please call the number on your billing statement to make arrangements.
