About Ted A. Foster
My interest in cardiology began during my years as an undergraduate at Oregon State University. While working nights and weekends as an EMT, I found myself drawn to the patients with cardiac problems, becoming interested in the cutting-edge technology, innovation, and complexity of cardiac care. This fascination grew in medical school, through residency, and into fellowship where I conducted clinical research in the fields of cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac CT angiography, and perfusion echocardiography. I count myself lucky to have had many opportunities that have led to my true love of cardiology. I like to empower my patients to become active participants in their healthcare and medical decisions. My most important role as a provider is understanding what my patient's needs are at a specific moment, ranging from listening to concerns about their mental health surrounding their cardiac condition to providing critical care. What I enjoy most about being a cardiologist is helping patients navigate the complex world of cardiology, by tailoring their care to the individual. It is a privilege to care for patients in their time of need. My philosophy of cardiac care involves utilizing all available evidence and exploring various treatment options together with my patients to empower them to make an informed decision regarding their health. I want my patients to know that I deeply care about the health of our community. As a native Oregonian (born in Portland, raised in Beaverton), I am thankful I can use my knowledge to help my neighbors navigate all manners of the healthcare field. Outside of work I am passionate about photography and exploring the outdoors with my family. I am also an avid sports fan, with a particular love of Oregon State athletics and Red Sox baseball.
