Anton Stolear, MD

Anton Stolear, MD, was inspired to pursue medicine by his early experiences caring for his blind parents, witnessing a community physician serve an underserved neighborhood, and undergoing life-saving surgery at age 12. He chose cardiology for its blend of complex physiology, diagnostic problem-solving, and long-term patient relationships. Dr. Stolear earned his medical degree from Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Moldova, where he also began cardiology residency training. After relocating to the United States, he completed an internal medicine residency and cardiovascular disease fellowship at Yale New Haven Health. He also served for three years as an inpatient unit medical director, gaining leadership experience in clinical quality, patient safety, hospital operations, and multidisciplinary care. As a cardiologist, Dr. Stolear strives to be a trusted advocate, educator, and partner. He emphasizes careful listening and clear explanations so patients and families can make informed decisions that reflect their needs and values. Fluent in English, Russian, and Ukrainian, he is committed to providing welcoming, culturally responsive care, including for Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking communities in the greater Portland area. Born in Moldova, Dr. Stolear developed resilience and a deep appreciation for access to healthcare and education while growing up during significant social and economic change. He and his family are pleased to call the Pacific Northwest home. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, fishing, traveling, exploring culinary traditions and world history, and spending time outdoors with his wife and daughter.
