I've always enjoyed Dr Aikawa's no nonsense tell me the truth attitude. I appreciate hearing the truth and telling me exactly what I need to do for my health.

Great provider

Dr. Aikawa is clearly knowledgeable in her field, there's no doubt about that. Her bedside manner just needs a lot of work. Doctors often have this misconception that they are the most cognitively intelligent people in the room. That, not only are they the expert In their fieldbut the expert In every field, as well. When physicians present with this personality-type, it slows communication down because they're frustrated. Dr. Aikawa showed her frustration openly, which told me it's just not something she's probably aware of. She is a seemingly good doctor, and this visit certainly won't stop me from seeing her again, I just hope she can show some humility in the future.

I found her to be open, attentive to what concerned me and willing to consider options that had not been addressed previously.I will continue my care with her as long as she is willing to do this.As a side note: the questionnaire as well as answers are too "black / white" (for lack of a better explanation)

My last cardiologist left and I picked Dr Aikawa. She's great, and ordered the bloodwork I had been asking my last cardiologist to oder for 2 years. And the test was positive for inherited CVD. I wish this would have been prompted by my PCP back in 2003 when my LDL was high and I couldn't take statins. That would have painted an entirely different picture. And possibly saved me from the heart attack!

This time I experience a new thing when I check in they asked me to sit in that hallway, not close to my provider. Otherwise I was used to sit in that department that was convenient and too much time for the nurse to come and grab the patient from this area so please change that patient should be close to the department not in the main hallway.

This was my first visit with my new cardiologist. I was impressed.

I met Dr. Aikawa in 2018 when my primary care doc advised me to have an EKG after I reported I was having new issues walking up hills in my neighborhood. A result of that appointment showed my heart lacked a pacing function, which signaled a need to correction. Pacemaker installed and Dr. Aikawa's office followed the issues with my heart, learned my aortic valve wasn't functioning correctly, which led to my first surgery. She has been my trusted advisor and supportive doctor since that time; I believe that discovery saved my life.

This doctor seemed rushed and was not the cardiologist I have seen before for my yearly check up since he has left the practice. I was glad to get a quick appointment but she did not get some of my information correct that had bearing on my questions. She did correct it in my chart when I sent her a request for a correction, however. I do not anticipate other difficulties and was glad to have yearly refills for my current prescriptions.

Dr. Akaiwa was extremely professional and pleasant. She reviewed my records in detail. This was my first visit and I was extremely pleased.
