Ryan J. Bachofer, MD

Dr. Bachofer grew up in Belgrade, Montana, and he is excited to return home to care for patients in Missoula and across Western Montana. He attended Montana State University for his undergraduate studies and earned his medical degree through the University of Washington’s WWAMI program. After completing his General Surgery residency in Phoenix, Arizona, he pursued advanced fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the well established St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dr. Bachofer has a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery, including advanced laparoscopic and robotic-assisted procedures, which can shorten recovery times and help patients return more quickly to the things they enjoy. He believes in a shared decision-making approach, partnering with patients to ensure they feel informed, empowered, and supported when choosing the treatment plan that’s right for them.
Outside of work, Jake enjoys hiking, cooking, and playing card games. He looks forward to putting down roots in Missoula and exploring the trails, rivers, and mountains on the western half of the divide.
