Kavita K. Rao, MD

Dr. Kavita Rao is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist who has been serving patients in Orange County since 2016. Her clinical interests include diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction. Dr. Rao is a native of Southern California. She completed her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley and then went on to earn a masters and her medical degree from Chicago Medical School. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston. After graduation Dr. Rao worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center for a few years before returning to California. Dr. Rao was also an associate clinical professor of Ophthalmology where she practiced until making the transition to private practice. Dr. Rao is dedicated to her family and lives in Irvine with her husband who is also a physician. They have two boys and a golden doodle. She enjoys family time, cooking, fitness, and is an avid skier.
