About Garrett R. Scott

Dr. Garrett Scott was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. He graduated cum laude from the University of Oregon in 1999 with a degree in General Science and Classical Civilizations. He attended the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society as a junior. He was a graduate with highest distinction from the Keck School of Medicine in 2004. Dr. Scott completed a transitional internship at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan, in 2005. He then went on to ophthalmology residency training in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center where he was chief resident in 2008. He stayed at the University of Michigan for glaucoma fellowship which was completed in 2009. He is board certified through the American Board of Ophthalmology. Glaucoma is the second most prevalent cause of irreversible vision loss in the United States. As a glaucoma specialist, Dr. Scott treats glaucoma both medically and surgically and has extensive training in glaucoma lasers, trabeculectomy and glaucoma tube shunt surgery. He also performs cataract surgery and provides comprehensive ophthalmic care. Dr. Scott and his wife Emily have three children. He enjoys running, skiing, golf and spending time with family.
