Emily Truex, AGACNP

Emily became a medical provider to help people in their time of need and to embrace the continuous learning that medicine offers. She finds fulfillment in the fact that there is always something new to learn in healthcare. Her journey began at Oregon State University, where she studied public health. Wanting to make a more direct impact, Emily pursued nursing school and was drawn to critical care, ultimately becoming a nurse in the CVICU. Her passion for learning led her back to graduate school to become an acute care nurse practitioner. Since then, she has worked as a nurse practitioner in the CVICU for the past four years. Emily believes her most important role as a provider is serving as a patient advocate. This includes delivering safe, evidence-based care, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment, and engaging in shared decision-making with patients and their families. In her free time, she loves reading, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
