Richard G. Bennett, MD

Richard G. Bennett, M.D., a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Mohs Micrographic Surgery, is a specialist in Mohs micrographic surgery.

Dr. Bennett received extensive training in Mohs micrographic surgery in the Department of Dermatology at New York University Medical Center. He completed his residency in dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and received his M.D. degree from Case Western University. Dr. Bennett also served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy.

Since he began his practice in 1978, Dr. Bennett has treated more than 20,000 skin cancers using Mohs micrographic surgery. He has also trained nineteen fellows in this technique, and his office is one of the few appointed training centers for Mohs micrographic surgery in this country.

Dr. Bennett taught full-time on the faculty at Emory University School of Medicine from 1978 to 1988, where he received teaching awards from the dermatology residents at both medical schools. He is listed in The Best Doctors in America, Published by Woodward and White.

Dr. Bennett has published widely in medical journals and has written a standard textbook in dermatologic surgery (Fundamentals of Cutaneous Surgery, published by C.V. Mosby and Co., 1988) used in dermatology training programs all over the world.

In addition to his practice, Dr. Bennett teaches dermatology residents at UCLA, USC and Martin Luther King-Drew Schools of Medicine and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery.
