About Heh Shin R. Kwak
Dr. Heh Shin Kwak emphasizes empowering her patients to take charge of their dermatology care, whether it's educational information or the importance of sun protection. "What I enjoy most about being a dermatologist is seeing patients of all ages and especially entire families," she says. "One of the most satisfying aspects of medicine is seeing multiple family members and being entrusted to their care."
Dr. Kwak earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor as part of the Integrated Premedical-Medical Program, a rigorous eight-year program that accepted a small number of high school students nationally with early admittance into medical school.
During medical school, she completed a National Institutes of Health research fellowship in dermatology with a focus on clinical trials and translational research. Dr. Kwak then completed her dermatology training at Stanford University Medical Center, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Kwak is board certified in dermatology.
In her free time, Dr. Kwak enjoys rock climbing, hiking, cooking and spending time with her husband, son and daughter.

This was a somewhat unique visit. I thought I had a weird skin growth on my back. I called Dr Kwak, my regular dermatologist and promptly got an appointment. It turned out I had a tick that had attached itself to my back. Dr Kwak immediately knew what it was, removed it, gave me a sheet of information, and prescribed the appropriate precauntionary antibiotic.
