Danya Sands, Doula

Since I was a child, I have wondered about the world’s great mysteries and been drawn to the deep, raw and sacred aspects of our existence… in particular the fire of life, growth and creation innate in us all. Whether watching a baby master a new skill, or witnessing the transformation that occurs when a woman becomes a mother, I see the threads of magic and connection woven into our lives pulling us through periods of epic change. My philosophy as a doula is one that honors our instinctual, wild selves, and leans into our need for each other during these times. I want all birthing people and their families to feel supported and held in my warmth and holistic care as they navigate one of life’s incredible journeys and initiations. I am indonesian-american, and I love that my own multicultural background gives me a strong foundation to work with people from all walks of life. I also have two children with whom I had vastly different births and postpartum experiences; I am confident these lessons and insights equip me well to support clients in a variety of situations. I completed my doula training in December of 2023 through a DONA approved workshop. I have been supporting families through postpartum for the last two years. It would be my absolute honor to support you during the golden month after birth; I’d love to provide nourishment, babycare, lactation support, mother ceremony, sibling care, house help and anything that may lighten your load. During this transitional and tender time I want the mother to feel revered and celebrated for all she has done and supported in the home to rest, heal, bond with new baby and enjoy time with her family.
