About Ryan L. Hermansen
Ryan first learned about what kind of medical provider he wanted to be based on his own patient experiences. During his medical training, he began to understand the responsibility entrusted to him by his patients. Truly understanding that responsibility, learning to communicate well with patients, and continually growing the foundation of his knowledge is Ryan’s commitment to his profession and to himself. He found his way to the role of Physician Assistant through his uncle, a family medicine physician. He began working as a technician and medical assistant in a Utah gastroenterologist office. This work was pivotal to understanding the role of the PA in the medical setting. With support and encouragement of his peers, mentors, family and friends, Ryan attended the OHSU PA Program and graduated in 2019. During his studies, cardiology became an area of interest and excitement. “Honestly, I feel like cardiology chose me! Helping patients recognize the important of cardiac health is rewarding for me.” His approach to patient care? Establish a trusting-working relationship. Ensure patients feel confident their questions are listened to and properly addressed, concerns are substantiated, information and results are communicated clearly, and patients feel empowered in shared decision making. Growing up in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City, Ryan is an avid outdoorsman. He is often out finding a new trail or cascade mountain to explore. He plays recreational sports and enjoys the arts, music and searching for the best Thai food in town with good friends and family.
