About John R. Stevens
I feel health care is ideally a team effort between patient and provider. I value the importance of knowing a patient beyond the diagnoses in their medical chart in order to provide customized care for the individual. Each patient has their own narrative that shapes how they may best effectively engage in preventing and managing illness. I believe in the education and empowerment of patients and their ability to make their own decisions surrounding their health. My interests in medicine include underserved populations, pediatrics, chronic disease management, mental health, addiction medicine, and obstetrics. I am a board certified in Family Medicine and am a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Washington Academy of Family Physicians and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

This visit was to establish care with Dr. Stevens as my new primary care provider. He was extremely thorough, and he reviewed all aspects of my past health care. I never felt rushed during the visit, and he made sure at the end that I had understood everything we discussed. I'm very pleased to have him as my new doctor.
