About Nora P. Vasquez
Born in Colombia, Dr. Vasquez grew up in Fontana, California. She attended University of California, Riverside, where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biochemistry. She was inspired by her professors at UCR to do study development of monoclonal antibodies, including some of the early research in osteoporosis treatment that is very relevant today. She graduated from University of Illinois in Chicago College of Medicine, and although she loved Chicago, she returned to southern California to complete her residency in Family Medicine at the Santa Monica Hospital - UCLA Family Medicine Residency Program. There she served as Co-Chief Resident in her final year. Immediately after graduating, Dr. Vasquez joined the Santa Monica Family Physicians, and has been here ever since.
Growing up with a very adventurous father, Nora’s family traveled back to Colombia often, and camped all over the western United States. Through these experiences, she developed a life-long love of nature, travel, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, it was her father’s medical problems, and lack of cohesive and accessible medical care that inspired her to pursue family medicine as a career.

Dr. Vasquez grew up in Fontana and loves the Los Angeles Dodgers, fondly remembering listening as a child to Vince Scully call the games on the radio. Hiking, skiing, cooking and travel are Dr. Vasquez's other great passions. She loves to hit the slopes of Beaver Creek, CO, Mammoth and even the local mountains when there is snow. She enjoys hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains and names the Dolomites in northern Italy as her all-time favorite destination.
Last Christmas, Dr. Vasquez and her husband Chris brought three generations of Vasquez women together to teach their two daughters how to make her mother's special Colombian Empanadas. She says her greatest passion of all is to enrich her daughters' lives, opening their worlds and allow them to experience everything they can and want to do. "I practice medicine with a passion," she says, "because I love it, and because I also want my girls to be proud and empowered women."

I have been going to Dr. Vasquez for almost 40 years. She is the very best of the excellent doctors. She never rushes me and is always positive towards me. I don't know how she keeps everyone's information in her head but she always remembers me, I am so lucky to have her for the last 40 years!
