About Sean M. Simons
Sean Simons, PA-C, has always known the importance of accessible, affordable health care. He was raised by a single mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her family and health care was a luxury they couldn't afford. Later, as an adult, Sean had a close friend who was injured in an accident yet had few resources to help him as a quadriplegic. Sean relocated to provide care for him for several months. "It was the combined experiences of need from my childhood and caring for my disabled friend that fostered my passion and desire to help others in a health care role," he says.
Sean's philosophy of care is a patient-centered approach that encompasses treating the patient as a whole. "I seek to improve patient health outcomes for their whole body and mind," he describes, "incorporating all aspects of their humanity and relationships so that they can thrive."
Sean began his career in medicine first as a nursing assistant while earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Portland State University. He then earned his master's degree in physician assistant studies from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
A native to the Portland metro area, before realizing medicine was his calling, Sean spent several years working in various roles including information technology support, food service and as a professional musician. After completing his medical training in Texas, he and his family moved back home to Oregon.
He enjoys hiking, discovering new exotic restaurants and frequent trips to the coast with his wife, son and dog. In his free time, Sean records music with his friends and enjoys fixing computers and cars.
