William D. Ruegg, MD

After working at a homeless shelter in Upstate New York, Daniel Ruegg, MD, was inspired to enter the medical field. "It was a humbling experience then, as it is now, when people trust you with their care at the most vulnerable moments," he says. "I consider myself an advocate for the underserved, to make sure those most at risk for poor health have a trusted doctor." As a provider, Dr. Ruegg considers his most important role to be a trusted advisor to his patients. "I will always listen and learn about your goals, values and honestly advise," he says. "I emphasize shared decision-making, but recognize that my most vital resource for you is my medical expertise."

Dr. Ruegg most enjoys being there for patients during important transitions in life - whether it's birth or a major medical event, bearing witness to his patient's struggles, he considers an honor. "Family-centered prenatal care and childbirth has been a source of great joy for me," says Dr. Ruegg. "This intense period that I share with my patients from family planning, to prenatal care, delivery and two years of frequent well child care, means I have spent a lot of time with my patients and to support that growth of an individual and family is really fun."

After earning his medical degree from the University of Washington, Dr. Ruegg also completed his internship and residency with the University. Dr. Ruegg is board certified in family medicine.

Dr. Ruegg grew up in Southern Oregon and is now married with two children. In his free time, Dr. Ruegg enjoys trail running, mountain biking or climbing trees with his kids.
