About Jorge Ahumada
Dr. Ahumada grew up in the Dallas–Fort Worth area where, as in many large cities, the stark contrast between those with and without access to healthcare is especially evident among vulnerable populations. This inspired him to begin volunteering early in nonprofit clinics serving low-income and homeless individuals, as well as with the Crisis Text Line. These experiences shaped his perspective on the importance of healthcare outreach and fostered a desire to help meet that need as a physician. After graduating with dual bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Biochemistry, Dr. Ahumada attended Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He now has the privilege of being part of the Kadlec Family Medicine Residency Program and the opportunity to train in a specialty he believes is uniquely equipped to help bridge gaps in healthcare access. His professional interests within the broad field of family medicine include addiction medicine, behavioral health, public health advocacy, preventive medicine, and in-office procedures. Outside of medicine, he enjoys working out, watching true crime and murder mysteries, and spending time with his cat. Dr. Ahumada is excited to begin his training at Kadlec and looks forward to what the next three years will bring.
