Both of my younger daughters had been under GI care here, but we no longer have a GI specialist available. I requested a referral to Dane Shoemaker for each of them. We got an appt for one of them.

He was very helpful an scheduled a procedure I needed to understand my health issues.

All was good, but have some reservations seeing a PA rather than an MD

Dr. Shoemaker was easy to talk with but did not adequately listen to me. After 8 wks of following his medical advice giving up coffee, weekend wine, sugaradhering to the FOD diet, lactose free and gluten free diet, I still have the same symptoms as back in May when I saw him for the first time. He suggested I consult with a natural path and try acupuncture. So much for healthcare!

Everyone is always kind and caring and does a good job

It was clear that Dane Shoemaker cares about my situation, and works very hard to get resolution for me. Before the visit he made an after-hours phone call to check in on me. During the visit he took the time to ask a lot of questions, and let me speak as much as I wanted to to explain my situation. I have been struggling for some time with a chronic illness, for which doctor Faust has been helping. Dane saw me a couple years ago, and I just recently started care with him again. I have hope that things will improve because he's doing everything he can . He is extremely thorough, and quick to respond. For example I was suffering pretty bad recently and he immediately ordered labs tests and checked in with me. He also got me a specialty referral. He is probably the best doctor I've had, and I have had many over the last 10 years battling with crohn's disease. It gives me peace of mind knowing that he is there if I need help.

Related to this visit.. I feel the visit would have gone a lot smoother had Dane read my history prior to talking with me. As it took me several minutes to convince him that I had never had a rectal seal! I hope when Dr Patel does my procedure she is well informed on my history. After my visit I felt very uneasy. And I have no desire to have my follow up with Dr Dane.

This appointment was a referral from my primary provider to connect me with the gastroenterologists group. Shoemaker was my first contact. Excellent, thorough. Knew my history and asked questions of me. The primary purpose was to schedule a colonoscopy for the coming year. That purpose achieved.

I appreciate his candidness regarding my condition, his clarification regarding treatment protocols and his supportive attitude toward using another source (nutritionist) for more support during major dietary changes.

But as he was running late & I had another commitment, he was respectful of my time. He caught up quickly with the urgent need, did his exam, & made a plan. I was extremely satisfied & reassured.
