About Michael C. Barth
Michael Barth chose to specialize in gastroenterology because he understands how central eating is to human life. What we eat, when, where, and with whom we share meals all matter deeply. Since so much of our social life revolves around food, he recognizes that digestive problems can significantly impact a person’s overall quality of life and ability to connect with others. Michael aims to help his patients investigate and better understand their issues, and to empower them with tools that will address their concerns. He enjoys working together with his patients to find modifications and management they can use every day to keep connecting over food.

Having grown up in the desert, Michael appreciates the way everything in Portland blooms in the spring. Outside of work, Michael likes to cook, forage, and ferment. He enjoys figuring out what to do with an abundance of an ingredient and sharing his favorite flavors with friends and family.
