About Jowana Saba

Dr. Jowana Saba, M.D., is a fellowship-trained gastroenterologist with advanced expertise in hepatology, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), and functional digestive disorders. She began her medical journey in Lebanon, completing her medical degree, internal medicine residency, and a gastroenterology fellowship at the Lebanese University. She furthered her training in France, completing a transplant hepatology and IBD fellowship at Paris Diderot University, and earning a diploma in functional gastrointestinal disorders from Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University. After relocating to the United States, Dr. Saba demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to her profession by choosing to complete her medical training all over again. Embracing this as an opportunity to become an even better physician, she completed a second internal medicine residency at Tulane University—where her excellence was recognized with induction into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society—and an additional gastroenterology fellowship at Texas Tech University. This rare, multi-continent background provides her with uniquely comprehensive clinical insights. She is also a highly published researcher, focusing on IBD, viral hepatitis, and gastrointestinal cancers. Dr. Saba believes a strong, personal connection is the foundation of excellent care. She takes the time to ensure her patients fully understand their disease and treatment options. She strongly believes that patient education and shared decision-making are fundamental rights.
