About Matthew S. Berger
Dr. Matthew Berger is a Gastroenterology Specialist in Spokane, Washington. Dr. Berger received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, where he graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Iota Epsilon Alpha international Medical Honor Society. He completed his internal medicine residency at Stony Brook University, clinical nutrition fellowship at The University of Chicago and gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at University of Rochester. Dr. Berger has clinical expertise in all aspects of general gastroenterology and liver disease. He has a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease, short bowel syndrome and colon cancer screening and prevention. Dr. Berger's additional training in clinical nutrition at the University of Chicago provides him with a unique perspective and skillset for treating patients with short gut syndrome, post bariatric surgery ailments and malabsorption issues. He is passionate about patient education, providing them with the knowledge and care they deserve, to allow for shared decision making and patient centered care. He looks forward to welcoming existing and new patients.

Dr. Berger is one of the best medical providers I have encountered in many years. He is courteous and helpful and extremely well-informed In not only his area of specialization (gastroenterology) but medical issues in general. He is always well prepared for every office visit and listens and responds completely and knowledgably when asked questions about my care. In addition, his staff is also always friendly and helpful and complement Dr. Berger's style. I have immense respect for, and appreciation of, Dr. Berger and his office. He is an asset to the medical profession and to the Providence clinician network.
