About Matthew S. Berger
Dr. Matthew Berger is a Gastroenterology Specialist in Spokane, Washington. Dr. Berger received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, where he graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Iota Epsilon Alpha international Medical Honor Society. He completed his internal medicine residency at Stony Brook University, clinical nutrition fellowship at The University of Chicago and gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at University of Rochester. Dr. Berger has clinical expertise in all aspects of general gastroenterology and liver disease. He has a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease, short bowel syndrome and colon cancer screening and prevention. Dr. Berger's additional training in clinical nutrition at the University of Chicago provides him with a unique perspective and skillset for treating patients with short gut syndrome, post bariatric surgery ailments and malabsorption issues. He is passionate about patient education, providing them with the knowledge and care they deserve, to allow for shared decision making and patient centered care. He looks forward to welcoming existing and new patients.

Dr Berger is the kind of Doctor I have been looking for. He is very knowledgeable, caring, prompt, determined to help his patients feel better and heal. Part of healing is listening and caring. A patient will tell a few people the good , the bad is distributed to many many others.i wish that he was my primary doctor. We need more good doctors!
