About James H. Imatani

With over 25 years of surgical experience, James Imatani, M.D., says this is an exciting time to be a physician. "Physicians are constantly being challenged to keep up to date with new discoveries. However, we must always use perspective to tailor the best treatment to each patient."

Dr. Imatani says every patient deserves respect and courtesy. "I want all my patients to feel confident they are receiving advice that helps them make the best decisions for their health."

After earning his medical degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Dr. Imatani completed his internship and residency at Oregon Health & Science University. He is board certified in general surgery and also specializes in breast and thyroid disease, melanoma, intestinal disorders, hernias, splenic pathology, gallbladder disease and more. He is associated with Providence Cancer Institute and is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

Born and raised in Denver, Dr. Imatani is a third-generation Japanese American. His summers spent helping family with their pickle company made him appreciate the value of hard work, leading him to his career in medicine. He is a Denver Broncos fan and enjoys golfing in his free time.
