About Sandra Brown
Sandra Brown is a board-certified, licensed genetic counselor and serves as the Senior Manager of our Clinical Genetics & Genomics Program. She is passionate about precision medicine and the progressive use of new technologies to enhance access to personalized healthcare and supports the innovation and development of pioneering genetics services at Providence Health. Ms. Brown frequently addresses both professional and lay audiences to enhance genetic and genomic fluency. She also collaborates to publish significant research insights and unique service delivery models in the field of genetics. Beyond her clinical and research work, Ms. Brown leads community outreach, educational medical rotations, and internship programs in genetic counseling. Her dedication to the field has earned her notable recognition, including the Ann Walker Award for Excellence in Genetic Counseling and Research in 2012 and the Making a Difference Award for Daring to Change the World for the Better in 2017. Ms. Brown is also an active participant in national and regional patient advocacy, policy, and research networks for inherited diseases and access to genetic counseling. A Chicago native, she spent 15 years owning a certified organic farm in Oregon. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Oregon and her master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of California, Irvine.
