About Binbin Zheng

Dr. Binbin Zheng is a medical oncologist who specializes in treating all gastrointestinal tumors. He pursued a career in oncology motivated by the dual opportunity to both care for patients in clinic and contribute to the scientific community through research. Dr. Zheng earned his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid in Spain. He completed his internal medicine residency at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai West-Morningside program in New York, NY, and served as internal medicine chief resident at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. He continued his training with a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. During his fellowship, Dr. Zheng was awarded the AACR-AstraZeneca Clinical Immuno-oncology Research Grant. This offered him the opportunity to join AstraZeneca in Waltham, MA, and contribute to the development of two clinic trials focused on novel therapy in gastrointestinal tumors.

Dr. Zheng practices patient-centered care, taking time to understand his patients' priorities and values to tailor treatment plans. It’s important to Dr. Zheng that his patients feel a sense of control throughout their treatment. He works to ensure they understand their options and are supported in making decisions that align with their values.

In addition to treating patients, Dr. Zheng is a member of Earle A. Chiles Research Institute, the research arm of Providence Cancer Institute. His research interests include novel cancer therapy development, particularly clinical trials focused on immunotherapy and targeted therapy. Dr. Zheng prioritizes presenting patients with all treatment options, including both current standards of care and new therapies.

When not working, Dr. Zheng enjoys videogaming, indoor rock climbing, attending musicals and standup comedy, and spending time with his mini-Schnauzer, Lola, and cat, Dumpling.
