About Elisa F. Akagi-Fukushima
Dr. Akagi is a fellowship-trained Infectious Disease Specialist. She attended medical school at National University of Paraguay. She then completed the Internal Medicine Residency at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital and Infectious Disease fellowship at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Detroit, MI. Dr. Akagi has published several journal articles regarding COVID-19. Dr. Akagi approaches each patient as a unique case. Respecting patient humanity is of utmost importance. Infection is the result of the combination of several ailments from body and mind, and it is important to have a holistic approach.

When not caring for patients, Dr. Agai enjoys different kinds of dance throughout her life including ballet, Spanish dance, jazz dance, belly dance and continue being active with zumba. she also practiced piano for many years, which allowed her to appreciate the music.
