About Lan Ban
Lan Ban, MD, enjoyed teaching after college, a first career that inspired him to become a physician. “As a teacher, I enjoyed talking with students, learning from them, and building relationships. Teaching taught me to celebrate small successes and problem-solve with creativity,” he recalls. In his medical practice today, he continues to use the same principles with his patients that he used with his students. “Being a medical provider allows me to interact with people and continuously learn and teach.” Dr. Ban encourages patients to participate actively in their own care, emphasizing the importance of a care plan designed together. He also places high importance on patient autonomy and their role in shared medical decision-making. “I value each person as a whole regardless of their background, social standing, gender, race, age, or sexual orientation,” he says. “Anyone can become sick, and everyone who’s sick can benefit from some medical attention.” Dr. Ban has an undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. After college, he spent a year with AmeriCorps tutoring students with learning disabilities and teaching algebra at an inner-city high school in Tennessee. He then pursued his medical degree at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and completed his internship and residency at Providence St. Vincent Hospital. Born and raised in China, Dr. Ban came to the United States at age 16 and spent most of his time in Georgia and Tennessee. He enjoys hiking and soccer and is fluent in Mandarin.

Dr Lan Ban is not my regular doctor but he was excellent. One of the best doctors that I have ever seen. I am ver frustrated with your clinic. It is very difficult to talk with someone at the clinic without holding for a very long time. I leave messages on my chart and it takes days to hear back and my questions are not always answered. I was frustrated by the lack of response so I went online and found an opening with Lan Ban and he explained everything about a recent blood test that came back elevated. He also referred me to a specialist which I so appreciated. I love my regular doctor as well but the clinic need help.

Dr. bond is one of the best primary care physicians I have ever had in my whole life. On my yearly Wellness visits, he spends up to a whole hour with me which is unheard of. We go through and he answers all my medical questions And we look up things if the answers aren't clear right then and there. Clear right then and there. He is such a knowledgeable and kind and a great advocate for an individual's health. If you ever let him go, you are a fool.
