About Richard Z. Tsai
In his practice, Richard Tsai, MD, emphasizes prevention, education and listening to his patients. "I believe that prevention is the best medicine," he says. "A good primary care provider can identify early signs or risk factors and prevent a disease from having a significant impact on a patient's life."
Dr. Tsai assures his patients that he will always listen to their concerns. He also is committed to teaching his patients about their health issues. "An educated patient is an empowered patient," he says. "I try to educate my patients about their health concerns so they can take charge of their health."
Dr. Tsai graduated Phi Beta Kappa in biophysics from Johns Hopkins University. He attended Washington University School of Medicine and completed his residency at University of North Carolina Hospitals.
In his free time, Dr. Tsai enjoys working with computers, hiking and spending time with his family.

Dr. Tsai has been my primary provider since 2001 and I have no interest is ever changing. He is THE only doctor that has ever shown me that he actually cares. Dr. Tsai makes sure he has answered any and all questions and if he isn't sure he definitely finds the answer and will send me a message on MyChart. I honestly tell everyone I know they need to switch to Dr. Tsai even though he is already booked out months most of the time.
