About Rohan Shah
A lecture on cardiac physiology during undergraduate training sparked my interest in cardiology very early on. As I progressed in my medical training, I realized I enjoyed performing procedures to make an immediate impact on patients in critical situations, while also forming long-term relationships with patients. Interventional cardiology offered the perfect balance of critical decision making, hands on procedural work and meaningful, patient centered care.
In addition to coronary interventions, I further specialize in performing minimally invasive structural heart procedures such as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacements (TAVR), Mitral valve repair (Mitraclip) and replacements, and PFO/ASD closures. With a background in biomedical engineering, I am passionate about being at the forefront of using new technologies and therapies to deliver state-of-the-art treatment options to my patients.
I completed medical school training at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, followed by residency training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where I also served as Assistant Chief of Service on the Janeway internal medical service with a focus on educating residents and working with department leadership on shaping the internal medicine program at the hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. I then completed my training in general cardiology, as well as interventional and structural cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
I believe my most important role as a provider is to educate patients on all available treatment options, clearly explaining the nuances of each as they relate to their individual condition. My goal is to guide a collaborative, informed decision-making process that respects both the patient's clinical risk profile and their personal values.
In my free time, I enjoy watching and playing sports, spending time at the beach, as well as exploring new countries and cultures with my family.
