About Kishan S. Patel
Dr. Patel comes to Providence Brain and Spine from Emory University, Atlanta, having completed his Vascular Neurology Fellowship in 2020. Prior to that, he received his neurology training at the Houston Methodist Hospital, TX. He served as the chief resident during his final year of residency. Dr. Patel received his medical education at N.H.L. Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad, India, the city where he was born and raised. After graduating from medical school in 2013, he moved to the U.S. to pursue a career in Neurology. Dr. Patel serves as Medical Director for the Providence Portland Medical Center Stroke Program. His research interests include post-thrombectomy care, biomarkers in cryptogenic stroke and cell therapy in stroke recovery. He enjoys working with medical students and residents and is passionate about teaching neurology. Dr. Patel lives in Portland with his wife and daughter. His hobbies include photography, traveling and playing soccer and badminton.

Dr. Patel entered the room exactly on time. He gave me excellent care. He had reviewed my chart and spoken with another doctor about my case. He asked me what had happened the day I had my stroke and he listened to me without interrupting. Dr. Patel spent over an hour with me. He answered all my questions and gave me clear information about the next steps in my care. I consider Dr. Patel to have done a practically perfect office visit. I am much appreciative.
