My first visit with Dr Buchanan was great. She was warm and caring.

Dr Buchanan was friendly and a good listener . Dr Franks retired whom I've seen for a dozen years. Dr Buchanan did a psp as I requested due to past cancer however she did not do a recital exam. Dr franks always checked my backside too. Why?

I was unfortunately disappointed in my first ever experience in Dr. Buchanan's office. Nearly 3-4 months after making my appointment I was finally in the office. I was kindly given paperwork to fill out as a new patient from the front desk and I was called back around 5 minutes after. I had not finished my paperwork and told the assistant nurse as well. She shared that it was fine and that I could finish it later. She took my weight and guided my to my exam room. She chaotically looked through drawers to find a gown and sheet to cover myself and told me to change and was quickly about to leave. I had asked for more instruction as this was my first ever pap smear and I was not knowledgeable of the steps I needed to take. I had also started my menstrual cycle that same morning and made the assist nurse know. She said I was fine and to change. I was so mal informed that when the doctor entered she asked if there was a reason I still had my shirt on, as a breast exam is part of the exam. I was not told nor did I know I was supposed to do this. I was only told that the doctor had an emergency c section to go to which is why I was being rushed. The exam took place very quickly with minimal questions and the doctor was on her way. I was told to put my clothes on and the assistant nurse came back in and asked if I had completed the forms I was given. I had not completed them as I had no time and was being rushed from the second I was called back. The nurse then took my blood pressure, asked me two questions and proceeded to walk me out of the room to get my lab orders. I had my blood drawn and have yet to receive my results. I asked how long my results would take and I was told within 24 hrs. It has been 3 days later and I have no received anything. I was very disappointed in my experience. I wish I was given another option of seeing someone else rather than being rushed. I had such high anxiety the whole time that upon leaving I had a panic attack. With this being my first pap smear I was scared enough and the entire experience made it worse. I hope this reaches a higher up and that I receive my lab results soon. When I look at MyChart it shows that I am still in need of lab work although I had given blood that same day per the doctors orders. I hope I am reached out and given more guidance and answers.
