About Carie G. Bussey
Originally from Montana, Carie graduated in nursing from Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) and went on to serve as an Officer in the United States Army Nurse Corp. Upon completion of her time on active duty, Carie then attended the University of Washington (UW) and became a Certified Nurse Midwife. After working in outpatient Obstetrics and Gynecology for 14 years, Carie became trained as a surgical first-assistant focusing specifically on gynecology surgical cases to include robotic surgical cases. Her current role has her working mostly in the operating room, surgically assisting a variety of gynecology related practices to include surgeons from Providence Obstetrics and Gynecology, Providence Urogynecology and Providence Gynecology Oncology. Finding value in evidence-based practice, Carie has helped author 3 published papers, taught at PLU, guest lectured at the UW, and precepted many nurse midwife and nurse practitioner students. She is currently serving as the Providence Medical Group Advance Practice Provider Lead for Women’s Health.

Outside of work, you will find Carie volunteering in the community, spending time with friends and family, and spending as much time outside as possible, usually with a dog in tow. She enjoys trail running, hiking, skiing, paddleboarding, sandboarding - pretty much if it involves the mountains she is ready to adventure!
