About Stephan V. Yacoubian
Dr. Stephan Yacoubian is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in problems of the shoulder, hip and knee. Fellowship trained in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at the renowned University of Connecticut College of Medicine, he treats many sports and trauma related injuries. Dr. Yacoubian completed orthopaedic surgical training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. His surgical expertise encompasses minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement surgery and fracture repair surgery. Dr. Yacoubian is the senior partner at Orthopaedic Surgery Specialists and began practicing there in 2002. He has served as Department Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center and has performed an average of 368 surgical cases per year since 2002. Dr. Yacoubian is committed to providing the highest quality care for his patients. His goal is to return patients to the best level of function possible. His approach involves understanding the patient's healthcare needs and implementing state-of-the-art techniques which may involve physical therapy, medication, exercise and surgery when appropriate. He takes the time to understand his patient's needs and is always willing to discuss all aspects and options of treatment. Dr. Yacoubian is dedicated to orthopaedic clinical research. He has conducted and published numerous research studies in peer reviewed orthopaedic journals as well as presented at national meetings. The surgeon is very good at explaining my situation. He encouraged me to try physical therapy before surgery.. He checked in with me before the surgery explained everything that was gonna happen. This was my first visit with Dr. Yacoubian. I had shoulder surgery approximately 15 years ago, and my right shoulder has been in persistent pain ever since. Within minutes of entering the exam room, Dr. Yacoubian performed a sonogram and was able to clearly identify the extent of the damage. He explained that the pins from my previous surgery were no longer effective and that I have minimal remaining rotator cuff tendon.He thoroughly reviewed my treatment options, which included an injection to help relieve pain and improve mobility. He also advised that I will likely need a shoulder replacement in the future but recommended starting physical therapy to delay surgery as long as possible.I opted to receive the injection during the visit, and the results have been remarkable. Within 24 hours, my pain was nearly eliminated and my range of motion improved by roughly 75%. I am scheduled to begin physical therapy this week.Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my experience. Dr. Yacoubian listened carefully, addressed all my concerns, and explained everything clearly. It was truly an exceptional visit.

I answered all questions, but this appointment was a bit of a consultation. I did receive an injection for pain and have an MRI scheduled. Then I will follow up with the doctor.
