About Eric S. Schmidt
Eric S Schmidt MD is a board- certified orthopedic surgeon who has dedicated the last 40 years specializing in treating complex shoulder conditions, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, shoulder replacement surgery, and revision shoulder surgery. After graduating from Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa he went to UC Davis as an undergraduate and then attended Medical School at UC Davis. He completed his Orthopedic Residency at UC San Francisco. He then worked at Kaiser San Rafael and Kaiser Santa Rosa and became Chief of the Kaiser Northern California Shoulder Referral Program specializing in tertiary shoulder care and revision shoulder surgery. He left Kaiser and started his shoulder surgery private practice associated with Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in 2004. He established himself as the go to tertiary shoulder surgeon in Northern California and beyond. During his shoulder surgery career, he has operated on shoulders in Sonoma, Marin and Mendocino Counties and in 3 countries in Europe. Since 1989 he has been a consultant for the design and development of many arthroscopic and shoulder replacement instruments and implants. He has taught shoulder arthroscopic shoulder techniques in the US and 3 countries in Europe. Dr. Schmidt believes in establishing and maintaining a strong physician-patient relationship. He believes in empowering shoulder patients to fully understand the anatomy, physiology and etiology of their shoulder conditions and to understand all conservative treatment options before considering shoulder surgery. His goal is to continue to provide the highest level of shoulder care to patients in Northern California and beyond. Dr. Schmidt grew up In Santa Rosa and his family has been dedicated to SRMH (Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital) where his father Leon was an Anesthesiologist at SRMH starting in 1947. His brother Brian is a General Surgeon Specializing in trauma surgery and established SRMH as a Level 2 Trauma Center and he continues to run the trauma service as the Trauma Medical Director at SRMH. His sister Karen works as an anesthesiologist at SRMH.

When outside the office Dr Schmidt enjoys watching and attending sports events especially World Cup Soccer, The Olympics, the NFL and the NBA etc. He enjoys playing racket sports with family and friends. He is a music lover and loves attending live events including Rock n Roll, symphonic music and Opera. He is an avid audiophile and loves playing with vintage audio equipment.

He is up to speed on all the medical procedures and services that he provides to his patient. He is a 100% very good doctor. He takes notes with his phone too later go back and review them. He records every session that we have so he doesn't forget anything and I would suggest him to anybody that needs to go see an orthopedic for any kind of bone problems. As a matter of fact, I'm fixing to go for surgery this Thursday to have my arm fixed and hopefully that surgery goes well. I'm a little bit stressed out but yeah.
