David S. Putnam-Pite, MD

Dr. David Putnam is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction, with a clinical focus on hip replacement, knee replacement, and the ongoing care and revision of hip and knee arthroplasties. He also has a strong interest in general orthopedic fracture care, providing comprehensive treatment across a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Putnam completed his adult reconstruction fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) after finishing his orthopedic surgery residency at OHSU. He earned his medical degree from the OHSU School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and holds a bachelor’s degree in human biology with honors from the University of California, San Diego, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. In practice, Dr. Putnam has extensive experience in both primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, including the management of complex cases such as periprosthetic fractures and prosthetic joint infections. His clinical approach emphasizes evidence-based care, careful surgical planning, and helping patients safely return to the activities that matter most to them. Dr. Putnam is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA). He is also actively involved in research and academic scholarship, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and national presentations focused on arthroplasty outcomes and fracture management. Dr. Putnam chose to practice in Hood River to live and work in a small, close knit community while being close to the outdoors.
