About Lorien M. Paulson
Dr. Lorien Paulson is a board-certified Otolaryngologist/Head and Neck Surgeon with additional pediatric subspecialty fellowship training and has been in practice for 10 years. She enjoys taking care of patients of all ages, with a particular interest in chronic sinus disease, and congenital and acquired head and neck masses. After completing her undergraduate degree at MIT (originally intending to pursue a career in molecular biology) she decided to change her plans to medicine! She attended University of California, San Diego for her Doctorate degree, followed by a five-year Otolaryngology/Head and Neck surgery Residency at Oregon Health Science University, followed by a one-year fellowship at the University of North Carolina. In her free time, Dr. Paulson enjoys foraging and cooking with the bountiful ingredients of Humboldt County, as well as travelling, painting, and hiking.

Dr Paulson was phenomenal, she took her time addressing my concerns. Explained to me all of my options going forward also weighing the pros and cons of my situation, then when we agreed on our path forward she then explained to me that process and how the procedure would go and how I should expect for things to be during, after and fallow up care. The whole team was on it and got us in within a weeks span and after the procedure they explained everything in detail for the healing process and the meds given!

Dr Paulson received my mri during her [ID] Vacation and fast tracked my surgery for a mucocoel in my frontal sinus that needed immediate surgery and she fast tracked the surgical proceedure that has been very successful. She involved myself and my wife in the discussion of my surgery and need for a catscan to further identify the content within the mucocoel. She gave great advice about post operational flushing of the wound at home. She talked to my wife in the waiting room. The endoscopic sinus surgery was minimally invasive. She received my consent for a more invasive, through the bone chisel, to drain the mucocoel before the surgery. Luckily the minimally invasive procedure was successful. Dr Foot the anesthesiologist was very good, and the anesthesia was as described. I was released needing no pain pills. The staff was wonderful. I am following Dr Paulson's advise and flushing the wound to keep drainage open and remove clots as they form. Drainage is good and I expect great results. I have a follow up visit scheduled for next Thursday. Before surgery in her office she showed me the route of surgery through my nose with a camera... Great personal relationship with myself and my wife...

Dr. Paulson did a minor surgery on my ear at the hospital. She saw me pre-op and explained everything to me. She left me a detailed instructions about the procedure and follow-up care.The doctor called me personally at home several days later to let me know the biopsy was okay and to check on my healing.
