About Michael J. C. Yong

Dr. Michael Yong is a Canadian hailing from his hometown in Winnipeg, Mantioba. He completed a three-year undergraduate pre-medical degree at Queen's University in Ontario, and then made his way to the West Coast to study medicine at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, remaining there for his residency training in Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery. After residency, he completed a highly respected fellowship at Stanford University where he specialized in advanced sinus and skull bases surgery at the Stanford Sinus Clinic. He holds board certification in Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery in both the United States and Canada.

During his residency, Dr. Yong became passionate about ways of reducing barriers to accessing healthcare and increasing the sustainability of the healthcare system. He traveled to Johns Hopkins University to complete a dual Master of Public Health and Master of Business Administration, where he studied health economics and how poor access to hearing healthcare affects the elderly and the young. He now uses his academic expertise to study how we can maximize patient quality of life using existing and new treatment technologies in the most cost-efficient way possible.

Clinically, Dr. Yong's philosophy is to focus on quality of life and, to that end, seeks to provide personalized care to each and every one of his patients. He strives to convey his expertise in an approachable manner that helps patients understand their conditions and empowers them to take an active role in their care. Above all, he values taking the extra time to make his patients feel heard and aims to co-create effective care plans with all his patients.
