About Omid B. Mehdizadeh
Omid B. Mehdizadeh, MD, is an Otolaryngology, and Head & Neck (ENT) surgeon. Working with colleagues in the Pacific Eye, Ear & Skull Base Center at Pacific Neuroscience Institute, his particular expertise is in voice, swallowing and throat conditions (laryngology).
Dr. Mehdizadeh, a native of Los Angeles, graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with High Distinction in Molecular and Cell Biology: Neurobiology. Thereafter, he completed a year of research in digestive diseases at the Digestive Diseases Research Center at UCLA. He received his medical degree from the University of California at Davis School of Medicine. Following his medical training, he was awarded a research fellowship with world-renowned voice and swallowing expert, Dr. Peter C. Belafsky, MD, PhD, where he published numerous peer reviewed articles focusing on the advanced treatment of swallowing disorders.
Dr. Mehdizadeh completed a five-year residency in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at New York University. During his residency, he participated in surgical mission trips serving underprivileged and indigenous populations of Central America. He further realized his passion in laryngology when provided the unique opportunity of treating world-class opera and Broadway singers under the guidance of Dr. Milan Amin of Manhattan, New York.
He returned to the University of California at Davis to expand his expertise in complex voice and swallowing disorders while conducting a fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Peter Belafsky at the UC Davis Center for Voice and Swallowing. Dr. Mehdizadeh has presented at international conferences and has received multiple recognitions for his work. He is fluent in Farsi. Throughout his medical career, Dr. Mehdizadeh has focused his time educating medical and undergraduate students and by providing medical care to disenfranchised populations through community clinics.

Dr. Mehdizadeh Was excellent and far surpassed my expectations. This was the third ENT I have seen regarding vocal issues singing and he found a small callus on my vocal chord that no one else found. Dr. Mehdizadeh went above my expectations in providing me with the necessary testing on the spot, and formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan that we could institute immediately to begin to alleviate my recent sudden suffering from vertigo and ear pressure, discomfort, tinnitus, along with other constitutional symptoms of illness. I cannot say enough good about my experience. I am very grateful to him for getting me onto his schedule right away after the long holiday weekend. I was incapacitated for a week and now I am recovering from what may be a new illness that I will be living with, but Dr. Mehdizadeh made it not scary and was confident and kind. Thank you!
