Izela Michel, CCC-SLP

Izela Michel is a Speech-Language Pathologist at Providence Children's Development Clinic. She is a first generation Mexican American and bilingual, speaking Spanish and English. She earned both her Bachelor's of Science and Master's of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Portland State University, where she received advanced training in culturally and linguistically responsive assessment and intervention for Spanish-English bilingual populations. Izela's areas of interest include supporting children with Autism, developmental and language delays, speech sound disorders, childhood Apraxia of speech, intellectual disability and assisting children with complex communication needs using various forms of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Izela is passionate about serving under-resourced communities, preserving heritage languages.
