Kathryn I. Murinas, MD

In her practice, Katie Murinas, M.D., emphasizes empathy, listening to patient and family concerns and making sure they feel they have been heard. "I chose to specialize in pediatric medicine because children are not small adults, they are tiny human beings who need medical care provided to them in a way they can understand and cope with," she says. "My philosophy of care is to treat each patient as if they were my family, which includes keeping them comfortable, explaining the process of care and not rushing to move to the next patient," says Dr. Murinas. "It's extremely important that I include the patient and family in the decision-making process." After earning her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Murinas completed an internship and residency at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit. She then went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the Univerity of Michigan. Dr. Murinas is board certified in emergency medicine and pediatric emergency medicine. Dr. Murinas was born and raised near Ann Arbor, Michigan. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her twin children and two dogs.
