About Susan C. Schmitt

Dr. Susan Schmitt opened her practice in February 2006 at Integrative Spine & Body Medicine (ISBM) specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Prior to that, she spent 7 years at The Everett Clinic working in their Spine Center along with other Physiatrists and Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Schmitt, originally from Pittsburgh, PA, completed her undergraduate studies at both Duke University and Penn State University. She received her medical degree from Hahnemann University. After medical school, she completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Washington, followed by fellowship training in Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine at the University of Michigan. She is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 1999 and is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner since 2004. Dr. Schmitt specializes in a variety of spine and musculoskeletal conditions including work related and personal injuries, whiplash and other motor vehicle related injuries, scoliosis (adults and adolescents), sports injuries and other soft tissue conditions. Utilizing her Feldenkrais training, she also enjoys working with individuals who are seeking more comfortable ways of “being” in their bodies through changes in posture and faulty movement habits. Recognizing that the body has an innate ability to heal, Dr. Schmitt’s philosophy of care includes a holistic and integrative approach to wellness, often blending traditional methods with alternative approaches to facilitate the most effective environment for injury recovery and healing. She enjoys working with a variety of health professionals from a variety of disciplines.
