Stephanie Oleson, PhD

Dr. Stephanie Oleson (PSY32717) is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist with expertise in neuropsychological evaluation, cognitive rehabilitation, and psychotherapy. Dr. Oleson earned a master’s degree in psychology from San Diego State University and completed a doctorate in clinical psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. She subsequently completed her internship at the University of Alabama – Birmingham VA Medical Center consortium and two-year neuropsychology fellowship at UCLA Semel Institute. Dr. Oleson has specialized training in assessment of adults with neurodegenerative disorders (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease, movement disorders) as well as broad experience in assessment of individuals with various neurological and psychiatric conditions including traumatic brain injury, stroke, epilepsy, ADHD, and mood disorders. Dr. Oleson additionally has experience in cognitive rehabilitation/cognitive skills training and supporting caregivers of those with cognitive impairment. She has expertise and publications in the relationship between lifestyle factors (diet, exercise, cardiovascular health) and brain function. She also provides psychotherapeutic interventions for individuals with mood disorders, anxiety, and history of trauma. Her therapeutic approach primarily involves use of cognitive behavioral and goal-focused techniques. She is certified in providing cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for treatment of PTSD. Dr. Oleson strives to create a supportive therapeutic relationship with consideration of individuals’ diverse backgrounds and experiences.
