About Robert L. Young
Dr. Bob Young is an adult pulmonologist and intensivist with over 25 years of experience. After undergraduate education at Stanford University, he completed his MD and PhD training at Washington University in St. Louis. He did a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle and fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado in Denver. Following training, he was a faculty member at National Jewish Health and the University of Colorado in Denver before a transition to full-time clinical practice with a large pulmonary practice in the Denver metropolitan area. More recently, he served as the director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City and then as a pulmonologist and intensivist with Bozeman Health in Bozeman, Montana. He has particular interests in the early detection and diagnosis of lung cancer, interventional pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine.

Dr. Young is the pulmonologist that performed 2 Bronchoscopies in order to remove most of a tumor (as well as lymph node samples, in my right lung/intermedius. 2 bronchoscopies were done as additional biopsies (initial ones were inconclusive) were needed which the Providence pathologist sent to UCSF for further studies. A rare cancer was discovered and Dr. Young was expedient in referring me to a surgeon who could do the particular surgery regarding the complexities of tumor location etc... Obviously, all of the records are within MyChart and I have the UCSF and Providence MyCharts links.Visits are on record. Dr. Young is the most personable Dr. I have run across in my 71 years. He would call personally with the bioipsy information so I did not have to wait and he was very quick to action when the cancer was discovered.
